Welcome to the world, Walter Peyton Bartholomew Birdsall. Thanks for coming to Rancho Nacho to explore and see what ranch life is all about. Sorry my dog Odin, got a little jealous and whined about being ignored. I must say, it was super hard not to take my eyes off your super cuteness. Thank you for making my life as a pet portrait photographer so much fun. I hear you are up to 30 pounds now and still growing. You are so lucky to have such wonderful parents and best wishes to you buddy. Meet Stella Blue, a gorgeous Havanese (National dog of Cuba) which is referred to as Blanquito de la Habana. She also happens to be an amazing family pet and a true companion who not only loves her family of 4 but also her best friend, Rudy, who is coming soon for a visit to my blog. Being a pet photographer is the greatest as I get to meet all kinds of breeds of animals. Plus, other pet loving folks like Stella Blue’s parents.

My boy Hot Wheels, or should I say Red Angel as his real name is Brumarba Red Shai, meaning Red Angel, in Arabic. Linda feels that the name Hot Wheels puts him under pressure to be “Hot”. So we mostly like to call him Hottie since he is a stud (kinda) muffin. Anyway, he loves to show off his tongue and do some very bizarre moves with it. I wanted to name him Groovy myself but had to defer to the hubby choice. Here he is letting Linda do some work on him for professional equine body workers who are expanding their knowledge through Equinology.

Nothing better than hanging on the beach, oh and working with a cute girl and a gorgeous horse. Life is friggin’ good. Being a beach girl myself, I can’t wait to come back with my own horses for some hot horse portraits. Maybe I should say, hot looking horse portraits.

One type of portrait work I really have fallen in love with is photographing couples who truly are soul mates and best friends. After college, I worked as an Occupational Therapist with my main focus on head injuries. But for a long time, I worked with the older folks who tended to be my favorite population as they accepted life so easily, were tolerant of not being 100% and ready to get back to their lives without harassing me too much. They could see the value so much easier than young adults as my job was to teach independence to the maximum level.

The Sedgwick’s are a couple who have such a loving relationship that I aspire to have with my husband Nigel. While we are not high school sweethearts, I plan to spend the rest of my life with him. I met Shirley at the Los Gatos History Club at a fundraiser event earlier this year in 2011. She loved my portrait on display and was ready for a professional portrait of herself with her beloved Charlie, both of Aromas. They came to my house in Morgan Hill for their session and were up for anything I wanted to do. I really enjoyed my time with them and have now become friends with a fabulous couple. Lucky me…

Wonder why I have a non animal related story posted here? Shirley’s husband, Charles happens to be Dr. Sedgwick who worked at the the San Diego Zoo treating and caring for all of the animals there. Talk about listening to some incredible stories. He has them and I can’t wait for our next dinner date.

Love to see girls who know what they are doing when on a horse. Another avenue I’d like to take with my boy, Hot Wheels, down the road. I know he would get a kick out of chasing and sorting cows. Off to Petaluma to work with Linda Tellington-Jones this week for her Equinology course. Both my boys and me are getting some life lessons and maybe a little mental stimulation. OK. Maybe a whole lot of stimulation as LTJ is a genius! Can’t wait.

Lela loves to dress up and…she is a horsewoman. Nothing better than seeing a sexy girl…with a horse. Here she is getting ready to trash the dress. Can’t wait to design more horse & owner portraits next year, especially on the beach, my favorite place to be. Calm, serene some days…wild and thunderous on others. Horses coming soon. Maybe tomorrow…
